Quotes From Week 17 Editions of NFL Network’s ‘NFL GameDay Highlights’ & ‘NFL GameDay Final’

Quotes From NFL GameDay Highlights & NFL GameDay Final

“[J.J. Watt is the] MVP. I’m not talking about defensive MVP. Who’s more consistent than J.J. Watt?” – Deion Sanders on Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt who had six tackles, three sacks, and three QB hits in a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars

“I like the Patriots going all the way.” – Michael Irvin on the New England Patriots

“I love [the New England Patriots] because of Tom Brady. I love them because they have two corners that can really play the game. I love them because their defense is really nice; Bill Belichick will take away the most potent thing that you have. And they’re going to get a week’s rest. [Rob] Gronkowski arguably is the best tight end in the game. All they need is a little running game…Let’s get ready for the AFC Championship game.” – Deion Sanders on the New England Patriots heading into the playoffs

“What I saw today was quite discouraging…Defensively they’re certainly not what they once were.” – Deion Sanders on the Baltimore Ravens who beat the Cleveland Browns 20-10 and clinched the 6th seed in the AFC playoffs and will face the Pittsburgh Steelers Saturday

“Let’s be honest, if [the Pittsburgh Steelers] are without Le’Veon Bell it’s going to be a daunting task in the playoffs.” – Marshall Faulk on Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell’s knee injury

“[Le’Veon Bell] is so valuable and viable to the success of this offense it’s unbelievable. If he’s not able to produce like he normally does, it’s going to hurt them.” – Deion Sanders on Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell

“The biggest thing is going to be swelling. If it swells up too much to where it’s not functional, to where you can’t bend it and bending your knee is an issue, then it’s out for him. But, the tough kid that he is when you look at a guy that plays week in and week out at the running back position, you’re dealing with constant nagging little things that hurt you. If he can suit up and play, Le’Veon Bell will play.” – Marshall Faulk on Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell

“With those weapons that they have it’s going to be very hard for anybody to stop Pittsburgh because they’re the one team that can go on the road and win.” – LaDainian Tomlinson on the Pittsburgh Steelers

“That [Seattle Seahawks’] defense and how they are playing right now, it’s unbelievable what they are able to do. It is crazy how fast they’re playing, the suddenness of how they tackle people, and now they’re taking the ball away too?” – Marshall Faulk on the Seattle Seahawks’ defense entering the playoffs

“Seattle is in the position they want to be in so they should have all the confidence. What they set out to accomplish at the genesis of this season they have accomplished. They said we want to have an opportunity to defend our title and they have that opportunity.” – Michael Irvin on the Seattle Seahawks going into the playoffs

“DeMarco Murray and the Dallas Cowboys can be in the driver’s seat because they feel comfortable that they can go anywhere and beat any team at any time because of the way they play the football game.” – Michael Irvin on the Dallas Cowboys heading into the playoffs

“It wasn’t about yardage, it’s about being efficient and smart and [Cam Newton] was that.” – Michael Irvin on Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton who led the team to a 34-3 win over the Atlanta Falcons to clinch the NFC South

“I like the Colts first of all because they have Andrew Luck. Whenever you’ve got Andrew Luck you’ve got an opportunity.” – Michael Irvin on the Indianapolis Colts heading into the Playoffs

“When Victor Cruz gets back I can’t wait to see what’s going to transpire in New York.” – Deion Sanders on having Odell Beckham and Victor Cruz at wide receiver for the New York Giants in 2015

“Rex [Ryan] is a good man. Rex is going to land on his feet.” – Deion Sanders on New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport

On Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan rumors:

“Next stop is Ann Arbor for Jim Harbaugh. This is what Michigan officials believe. I am told by several sources that a Jim Harbaugh to Michigan deal is all but signed. The expectation for Michigan officials is that Harbaugh and his wife will be on a 10:00 AM private plane tomorrow morning heading to Ann Arbor. The plan for Michigan officials is to introduce him officially as their next coach on Tuesday. He will also likely attend halftime of a basketball game there. The original offer at Michigan I’m told was eight million dollars a year but because of a bidding war at the last second I am now told Harbaugh will actually make more than that. Which means the San Francisco 49ers now need a new coach for 2015, something that does not catch them by surprise. They already have a plan in place for this. I’m told the top in-house candidate is defensive line coach Jim Tomsula. Also expect them to interview several young offensive coordinator candidates like Adam Gase, like Josh McDaniels, and don’t be surprised if UCLA coach Jim Mora also gets in the mix.”
