A look at seven statistical highlights from games played at 1:00 p.m. ET and 4:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, November 27, the 12th week of the 2011 season.

  • The Arizona Cardinals at St. Louis Rams contest is the first game in NFL history in which each team had an 80+ yard punt-return touchdown. St. Louis’ NICK MILLER had an 88-yard punt-return touchdown in the first quarter and Arizona’s PATRICK PETERSON recorded an 80-yard PR-TD in the third quarter.

Ranks as Thanksgiving’s all-time No. 1 show on cable & tops 2010 NFLN Thanksgiving game by 50 percent

Special NFL GameDay Morning pregame show viewership up 138 percent

NFL online & mobile Thanksgiving Day traffic jumps 76 percent

Last night’s San Francisco 49ers-Baltimore Ravens game on NFL Network was watched by an average of 10.7 million viewers (not including over-the-air stations in San Francisco and Baltimore) – ranking as the most-watched program in the eight-year history of NFL Network and the most-watched cable program ever on Thanksgiving (Nielsen cable viewership data available from 1994 to date).

49ers-Ravens topped by 50 percent last year’s NFLN Thanksgiving game (7.1 million viewers for Bengals-Jets, Nov. 25, 2010), which ranks as the No. 2 all-time cable program on Thanksgiving.  NFL Network’s previous most-watched game featured the Dallas Cowboys visiting the unbeaten New Orleans Saints on Dec. 19, 2009 (10.5 million viewers).

In addition, the first-ever Thanksgiving morning NFL GameDay Morning pregame show (2.5 hours live beginning at 10:00 AM ET from M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore) drew an average of 419,000 viewers – up 138 percent from the same time period last year.

Through three games, Thursday Night Football is averaging 7.5 million viewers, up 28 percent over 2010.

Complementary coverage of 49ers-Ravens online and via mobile devices drew a 62 percent jump in live streams viewed and a nearly 40 percent increase in unique viewers over last year’s Thanksgiving night game.  In addition, NFL digital traffic for full Thanksgiving Day coverage spiked 76 percent.

Thursday Night Football continues with the Seattle Seahawks visiting the Philadelphia Eagles next Thursday Dec. 1 at 8:00 PM ET. The Thursday Night Kickoff Presented by Sears pregame show begins at 6:00 PM ET. NFL Games Top Local Ratings in 27 Markets

NFL games ranked as the two most-watched television programs last week (November 14-20) with the CBS national telecast (mostly Chargers-Bears) drawing an average of 21.5 million viewers followed by Eagles-Giants on NBC’s Sunday Night Football with 20.3 million viewers.

Through 11 weeks, there have been 22 games averaging at least 20 million viewers – the most ever at this point in the season.

NFL games also topped local ratings in 27 of 30 NFL markets last week.  Following is the list of the NFL markets where football was the top-rated program for the week of Nov. 14-20:

NFL Celebrates Youth Health and Fitness with NFL Play 60 Games Thanksgiving Weekend

As friends and family gather to celebrate Thanksgiving, the NFL will continue its tradition of encouraging children to be active during special NFL PLAY 60 themed games throughout Thanksgiving weekend. NFL PLAY 60 is a league wide effort to fight childhood obesity by getting kids active for at least 60 minutes a day.

A special NFL PLAY 60 television spot will debut during each of the three Thanksgiving games.  The 90-second ad features Detroit Lions Coach JIM SCHWARTZ, players including QB MATTHEW STAFFORD, WR CALVIN JOHNSON and DT NDAMUKONG SUH, a special appearance by Pro Football Hall of Fame member BARRY SANDERS, as well as other players from teams around the league, joining children to take part in PLAY 60 activities to get healthy and active. The spot also will air during the Sunday and Monday Night Football games on Thanksgiving weekend. Earlier this season, the NFL debuted another new PLAY 60 television spot featuring the Carolina Panthers players encouraging local students to get active, alongside team owner JERRY RICHARDSON.

In support of NFL PLAY 60, all Thanksgiving weekend games will raise awareness of the childhood obesity epidemic and showcase the NFL and its clubs’ commitment to help reverse this trend. Beginning on Thanksgiving and continuing in the coming weeks, teams will designate a home game as an ‘NFL PLAY 60’ game. On-field elements will include PLAY 60 field stencils, banners and goal post wraps. Teams also will invite ‘NFL PLAY 60 youth ambassadors’ to be recognized on-field at each PLAY 60 game. These youngsters were selected by each team for their commitment to being healthy, through NFL PLAY 60 programs like NFL FLAG Football and NFL Punt, Pass & Kick and through participation in the NFL-American Heart Association PLAY 60 Challenge and NFL-National Dairy Council Fuel Up to Play 60 programs.

“Thanksgiving is a great day to encourage families to be active,” said Commissioner ROGER GOODELL. “NFL PLAY 60 continues to impact more children with each passing year, and we’re proud to feature the campaign on a holiday that celebrates family, food and football.”
